I don't force the "Kate Rossi" style on anyone. My role, as I see it, is ultimately to create a home that represents you. This can come in many forms - it may be just to guide you, ensuring mistakes aren't made, or take your dreams up a notch by giving you the courage to go where your heart wants to take you, or simply share with you some design advise, possibly restyle your existing furnishings, or start your home from scratch.
My style is inclusive and collaborative. I like to get to know everyone thats involved. I feel everyone needs to live how they want to - not how a magazine might illustrate one should! Metaphorically and literally, I love to open 'closets' and find the treasures of life's yesteryears. Styling and editing the reintroduction of memories as appropriate is thrilling, This can happen in many forms; mixing antiques with new designs, taking the old and making it new again, polishing the silver and putting it forefront on display, selecting fabrics that reimagine one's heritage, selecting art from a studios' floor, framing family photographs to bring walls to life, and all this alongside introducing the new you into your home. The homes I create often become a series of cameos inviting folks in, to sit, to rest awhile.
I love to work with colour. I see colour in everything. The grass isn't just green, it's white, silver, grey, gold, yellow, brown and 100 shades in between. The magic of color and design, texture and shape, old and new are just some of the elements I consider. But too, I watch how the natural light falls in each room, at different times of the day, on days of all weathers. I like to search for the unexpected. And, I sweat the details - they matter, and most often make the difference.
With every client, my ambition overall is really quite simple, creating a home that you want, a home that represents you, a home that you'll love! I do things differently and I don't apologize for that. You will certainly find the unexpected and small cameos that intrigue, but you will also find comfort, relaxation, an ambience that demands you rest, and that guests stay awhile.
